DESCRIPTION
This particular engine (Serial number to follow) was believed to have been used by Michael Schumacher in his first year driving for Benetton Formula 1 in the B191. The displacement is 3500cc and the engine is rated at 720bhp. This engine was presented to Walter Hayes CBE on his retirement as Chairman of Aston Martin. During his career, Walter had been head of Ford Motorsport and was instrumental in the mid-sixties in persuading Ford to invest in Cosworth Engineering, at the time a small, London-based, engineering company operated by Mike Costin and Keith Duckworth. The HB was the final incarnation of the Cosworth DFV which between 1967-1991 recorded more wins than any other F1 power unit, bringing World Championships to Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill, Jochen Rindt, Emerson Fittipaldi, James Hunt, Mario Andretti, Alan Jones, Nelson Piquet and Keke Rosberg. It also brought championships to teams: Lotus, Matra, Tyrrell, McLaren and Williams and won races for Hesketh, March, Penske, Shadow, and Wolf.
