DESCRIPTION
Raleigh 500 SV 1928. Raleigh manufactured motorcycles along with many others in the early 20th century, as motorcycling became intensely popular, particularly during the inter-war years. Latterly the war thinned out many of them, as attention turned to munitions and other modes of transport necessary for the war effort.
During that Golden era from 1921, Raleigh, who were already producing bicycles by the ton, joined the bad-wagon manufacturing motorcycles and 3 wheelers, but so successful was their pushbike production, that by 1935, the manufacture of motorcycles was terminated. In fact, Raleigh became the largest bicycle manufacturer in the world.
So here we have a painstaking and beautifully restored example of one of these rare machines. Manufactured in 1928, superb component quality and finish set these motorcycles apart from other manufacturers. Fitted with very desirable period lighting, this machine starts easily, runs like a clock and of course is Banbury eligible. A fine investment..
