SUMMARY

Powerful, fun, great looks and sounds fantastic - Ford's, new for 1937, Model 78-V8.

DESCRIPTION

  • Launched in Britain in January 1937, the ‘split-screen’ Ford V8-78 had daringly-streamlined styling inspired by its cousin, the Lincoln-Zephyr, and was perhaps the most handsome of all the immortal Ford V8s
  • Over 4,000 Model 78s were built in Dagenham for the 1937 UK market and we believe this smart 'Fordor' may be one
  • Now powered by a 3.6-litre V8 which produced 85bhp at 3,800 rpm and 207N-m of torque at 2,200rpm
  • Offered from a deceased estate, the late owner purchased the car in 1998 and during his ownership, the interior was retrimmed
  • Classically presented in Ford Black with a tidy beige cord interior enhanced by the simulated Walnut finish on the dashboard an indication that it's a 'Deluxe model' (It should be noted the steering column and lock are not currently fitted correctly)
  • Having been unused since 2017, the car will require some recommissioning prior to returning to active use
