DESCRIPTION
The MG TC was introduced in 1945 and had evolved from the pre-war MG TA and TB models. The TC's pre-war styling appealed to an affluent post-war market, especially in the US where the model sold in great numbers. Despite the fact that many TC's were exported to the US, only RHD versions were available. However, this did not stop sales as the car's MG package consisted of 19" wire wheels, a fold flat windscreen, cut-away doors, separate wings and petrol tank. The TC incorporated a myriad of detail changes from the earlier models, most notably with a more powerful overhead valve 1250cc engine. Consequently, the TC is considered the ultimate development of the MG T series and it firmly established MG in the competitive post-war market place with over 10,000 units being produced before the MG TD arrived in 1949.
Finished in a most attractive colour scheme of black with red leather interior, beige hood and side screens, TC2229 was first registered on 5th February 1947. In 1998 the car was placed into de-humidified storage by its last owner due to lack of garage space. During this time the water pump was overhauled and the king pins re-shimed. In 2003 further works were carried out on behalf of the last owner, the carburettors were stripped and cleaned, the points re-set, spark plugs cleaned and a general check-over carried out. In November 2007 a further 30 hours were invested in the car with a full service. This included a new fuel pump, new brake hoses, new brake master cylinder, replacement oil seals in the rear hubs, new wheel cylinders, new radiator hoses, new fan belt, new front engine mounts, new battery and new wiper blades. Complete with an MoT test certificate until July 2012, this charming little tourer can be driven home from the sale by its new owner.
