DESCRIPTION

The 1953 Model 3100 Chevrolet Pickup came at the end of a relatively short-lived era of truck that began in the 1948 model year. The 3100 was the first major development after World War II and was one of the most popular trucks on the market.

From 1948 through 1953 there were just a few changes to the Chevy 3100, including slight grille adjustments, while the engine gradually got stronger. The 1950 model may have been the most popular of the era, but the 1953 had a few more years of development, making it a bit more advanced. When introduced in 1948 it had a 216 cubic inch engine, but by 1953 it was sporting a 261 cubic inch power plant with increased horsepower and more torque. Before and during World War II, trucks were largely seen as work vehicles, so little thought was put into comfort. That changed with the 1948 Model 3100. The cab was larger, while the adjustable seat could hold three people. There was more glass area, and by 1953 the windshield was split into two windows. Heaters, defrosters and radios were new developments for the trucks.

Assembled in Kansas City, Missouri in 1953, this vehicle is believed to have spent much of its time in California before being exported to the UK in circa 1999/2000 when its thorough restoration began post a small Cat-D qualifying collision. Well-documented with a consistent timeline of invoices for parts and with accompanying photographs of the body-off restoration there is no doubting the quality and standard of the work completed. Now appointed in White coachwork and sporting contrasting Red leather interior this is a commanding and robust vehicle which makes a truly sensational sound whilst the smooth automatic gearbox and 3900cc small block engine combine to deliver an effortless drive.

For only a fraction of the rebuild cost you could now own a truly unique Chevy Truck with heaps of personality.
