DESCRIPTION

The TF was launched in October 1953 and it was a well-received. It was a face lifted version of the TD model that shared the basically the same TD Mark II engine that was uprated to 1250 cc and 57.5bhp. In addition it boasted headlights that were dial is white with a combination of Arabic numbers at 12, 3, 6 and 9 with batons in between. It has a centre seconds hand and a date window at 4 o'clock with a magnifying Cyclops, luminous dial and hands and sapphire crystal glass. The watch is "faired' into the front wings, a sloping radiator grille that concealed a separate radiator and a new pressurised cooling system along with a simulated external radiator cap. In mid-1954 the bore of the engine was increased and as a result the in good condition and has Cartier service paperwork from 2015.

capacity went up to 1466cc. That car was designated TF1500 and was externally distinguished by a cream background enamel nameplate on the sides of the bonnet placed just to the rear of the forward bonnet release-buttons. Just 9,602 TFs had been manufactured, including two prototypes and 3,400 TF1500s, when production ended in April 1955 and the new MGA took up the reins for the popular British Motor Corporation.

This delightful and rare 1500 model is supplied with a Heritage Certificate that states the car was delivered to the American market on 4th October 1954. As confirmed by the original US title papers, the last owner was a Mr Carl T. Smith of Tennessee, where the car resided for many years in a warm dry climate. The current owner acquired the TF 1500 from marque expert Nigel Dawes over 23 years ago in 1990. Shortly afterwards it was converted to right-hand drive by Mike Jordan of Finchley, London. There are a number of old MoT test certificates during the vendor's ownership and no expense has been spared in maintaining this charming British sports car.

Finished in a dark green interior with black interior, this tasteful colour combination attracts admiring looks whenever the car is driven. Wire wheels, bright chrome work and good paintwork provide any perspective owner with a highly useable example ready for summer motoring. The only blemish on the car is a slight crack in the paint on the offside front wing. TF 1500s are very hard to come by these days and especially from long-term private owners that have cared for them for many years
