1955 Austin Healey 100/4 BN1

The Austin Healey became one of the best known British classic cars of the 1950s and 1960s following their spectacular success in international rallying and on the race track. The BN1 was built between 1953 until 1956 and was equipped with an Austin A90, 2660 cc, four cylinder engine, which gave 94 bhp and a top speed of over 100 mph.

By the time the BN2 was released in 1955, the Austin Healey 100S, which had a limited production run of just 55 racing cars, was becoming well known for its ability at both rallying and racing. This led to the production of the Le Mans 100M variation of the BN2 and this Le Mans specification kit was available with the BN2 but it was also popular with BN1 owners. The engine power was increased from 90 bhp to either 100 or 110 bhp, depending on the camshaft fitted. The Le Mans kits also had bigger carburetors and changes were made to the distributor, valve springs and a stiffened front anti roll bar was added.

This splendid matching numbers, original RHD Home market car was built 8th June 1955 and is offered for sale from single ownership since 1987. The car was restored to a fantastic standard from 1987 - 1989 and presents very nicely finished in old English white with black leather/white piping seats and the sporty addition of a lightweight louvered 100M bonnet.

Since restoration the car has covered approximately just 13000 dry miles since. In more recent years the car has benefited from engine work in the form of a Dennis Welch alloy cylinder head and alloy rocker cover. The car has also been fitted with a later type BN2 4-speed gearbox with overdrive, which is a great improvement for drivability.

Offered with a terrific history file that includes various invoices and photos of the restoration along with a heritage certificate and its original buff logbook. This Healey is a lovely example and fitted with its overdrive makes it a very useable car indeed.
