DESCRIPTION
The TF was launched in October 1953 and it was a well-received. It was a face lifted version of the TD model that shared the basically the same TD Mark II engine that was uprated to 1250 cc and 57.5bhp. In addition it boasted headlights that were "faired' into the front wings, a sloping radiator grille that concealed a separate radiator and a new pressurised cooling system along with a simulated external radiator cap. In mid-1954 the bore of the engine was increased and as a result the capacity went up to 1466cc. That car was designated TF1500 and was externally distinguished by a cream background enamel nameplate on the sides of the bonnet placed just to the rear of the forward bonnet release-buttons. Just 9,602 TFs had been manufactured, including two prototypes and 3,400 TF1500s, when production ended in April 1955 and the new MGA took up the reins for the popular British Motor Corporation. This delightful and rare MG TF 1500 was originally delivered to Indiana in January 1955 and was re-patriated to the UK in May 2010. Having lived in a dry climate for the majority of its life, the bodywork is presented in very good condition. The cream paintwork is bright and the red leather interior is in good condition. This tasteful colour combination attracts admiring looks whenever the car is driven. Wire wheels, bright chrome work and good paintwork provide any perspective owner with a highly useable example ready for summer motoring.Supplied with a UK registration certificate, operation manual, some receipts for works carried out and old MoT certificates, this charming little car would be make an ideal European touring companion. TF 1500s are very hard to come by these days, especially from private owners that have maintained them correctly and cared for them.
