1956 MG A Roadster

The MGA was a sports car produced by the MG division of The British Motor Corporation from 1955 to 1962. It replaced the older "T-type" cars and represented a complete styling break from the older vehicles. The "A' was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. Only 5,869 cars were sold on the home market, giving the MGA the highest export percentage of any British car. It was replaced by the MGB in May 1962.

We are very pleased to offer this 1959 MG A which is an original right hand drive car delivered to South Africa where it remained until repatriated some 20 years ago.

In the early 1990's the car underwent a total, professional restoration of the highest quality to the sum of around £20,000 and has only covered 6000 miles since. At this time the MG was fitted with the common upgrade of an uprated MGB 1800cc engine, this engine was not just a rebuilt unit but an entirely new engine in itself. This upgrade provides more than adequate performance and transforms the car in to a real drivers car far more tractable then the MG A engine.

Finished in gorgeous black paintwork complimented by dark green leather trim and with the fitment of chrome wire wheels the car really does look striking. Accompanying the car is full wet weather gear that appears to be like new and fits well all round.
