1957 MG A 1500

The MGA was a sports car produced by the MG division of The British Motor Corporation from 1955 to 1962. It replaced the older "T-type" cars and represented a complete styling break from the older vehicles. The "A' was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1955. Only 5,869 cars were sold on the home market, giving the MGA the highest export percentage of any British car. It was replaced by the MGB in May 1962.

TSJ 445 was first registered in the UK in 1998 and underwent a ground up rebuild having come from, we believe, the warm climate of California. Along with chassis and body work, the engine was rebuilt and a desirable Ford Type-9 five speed gearbox conversion fitted. In addition, the brakes were modified to discs all round and these sensible modifications have ensured the car drives beautifully in modern traffic and is ideal for long touring journeys.

The vendor purchased this MGA nearly 10 years ago from Beaulieu Garage on a chance visit whilst in the New Forest with his wife. Since then the car has been resprayed in the very best colour combination of Old English White with red leather interior and has been maintained with no expense spared. The car was resprayed by Beech Hill Garage in 2006 and there are bills in the history file for restoration work and also maintenance carried out by other marque specialists, such as Robin Lackford and Simon J Robinson. Having covered only 13,500 miles since 2000 this roadster is presented in fine condition. Care has been taken to retain many original MGA features; most obviously the instruments across the dashboard, such as the original radio and rear luggage rack.

With current MGA prices reaching record highs, this car offers superb value for money, with a realistic pre-auction estimate. TSJ 445 is supplied with a large history file, current MoT test certificate until June 2013, electronic ignition, stainless steel exhaust and Kenlowe fan. It is now ready to be enjoyed by its next owner, just in time for spring.
