DESCRIPTION
The MGA was a sports car produced by the MG division of the British Motor Corporation from 1955 until 1962. The MGA replaced the older 'T' type cars and represented a complete break from the style of the older vehicles into a new era of sports cars. The car was officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show of 1955 to an enthusiastic audience and sales success was quick to follow.
This car is an original UK market, right hand drive, MGA with matching numbers. It was first registered on the 28th of March 1957 and supplied in the unusual colour of Tyrolite Green. Still with its original registration number, 'YUG 44', had the same owner from 1957 until Sep 2001 (some 44 years) when it was then passed on to his niece.
The original owner, himself a serious MG enthusiast, restored the car in the mid 1990's and the comprehensive history file contains various invoices and photographs relating to all the work carried out, in addition to more recent bills/receipts and previous M.O.T's.
More recently the car has benefitted from a £6,000 "refreshment' in the early summer of 2012, where the work undertaken included a re-paint that maintained its original colour, it was re-rust-proofed and various new parts were fitted. This included 2 X 6 volt batteries, new fuel sender unit, the seats were recovered, rear bumper and over-riders, front wing grills, wing piping, boot carpet, headlamp surrounds, boot lid seal, seals on side screens and an overall complete service.
Complete with the original owner's manual, MGA factory tune-up manual, parts catalogue, Heritage Certificate and many period photographs - YUG is now ready to be enjoyed and appreciated by the fortunate next owner of this true British classic.
