DESCRIPTION
The story of the Beetle is well known; it was initially designed to provide cheap transport for the hard working German masses. Built in very small numbers before and during World War II, the Beetle literally rose from the ashes of Volkswagen's bos a quartz battery chronograph, working and functioning fine. The watch is presented on a black leather with Jensen pin buckle. The Jenson is complete with its original box and paperwork and presented in fine condition.
mbed-out Wolfsburg factory to become an instant success in Europe, Britain, America and virtually every other country in the world. The model evolved through various facelifts and numerous mechanical changes - there were more than 70,000 identifiable modifications during its production life - and it also provided a platform for other models, including commercial vehicles and sporting derivatives such as those by Karmann-Ghia. It was this constant development and attention to detail that allowed production of the Beetle to race past the 15,000,000 mark, earning it the title of the best-selling car of all time.
The car offered here today is a matching numbers 1957 model which sports the rare oval rear window. These were only produced between 1954-57. This car was first registered on 1st July with the license plate "UDA 305' which it still retains today. It was sold at that time by Quick Service Garage of Wolverhampton to a Mr Edwin Frederick-South, also of Wolverhampton. This is noted on the original registration book which accompanies the car. Resplendent in an original colour scheme of black with red and red interior, this magnificent example was the recipient of a full body-off restoration just nine years ago with the resulting work being completed to a very high standard. The quality has remained and UDA 305 still presents incredibly well, appearing as a freshly restored motor car.
A full photo album documenting the restorative work is amongst the history for this car.
Sold with current V5C registration certificate, this wonderful 57' Beetle has a fresh MoT test certificate and, subject to insurance, could be driven away from the auction.
