SUMMARY

Lovely, left-hand drive 150 ideal for European touring, road rallies and regularity events.

DESCRIPTION

  • A left-hand drive XK150 3.4 DHC presented in Gunmetal with a red leather interior
  • Originally supplied on 3rd November 1958 through Jaguar Cars, New York
  • Restored a few years ago by respected German specialists, OMTS GmbH in Gottingen
  • Upgraded for use on long road tours / rallies and fitted with a 5-speed Tremec T5 gearbox
  • In private ownership for the past few years based on the Isle of Man and used regularly on European trips
  • One for the driving enthusiast to use and enjoy many more pleasurable road tours

The XK150 was the final incarnation of the XK series and it appeared in May 1957, as either a Fixed or Drophead Coupe. A more refined and capable machine than its predecessors, the 150 was noticeably different from earlier versions of the XK theme with a higher scuttle and door line, whilst the radiator grille reverted to the thinner slats of the XK120 but was altogether wider. The bumpers were deeper and wrapped around, a curved windscreen replaced the divided one on the XK120 and 140, and much needed servo-assisted Dunlop disc brakes were fitted at each corner. However, the XK150 retained much of the mechanical layout of the 140 sharing the same 3.4-litre DOHC Jaguar straight-six, which developed 180bhp at 5750rpm.

According to the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate, this left-hand-drive DHC was originally delivered on the 3rd November 1958 through Jaguar Cars New York, finished in Cream (OEW) with Red leather. The current owner enjoys a significant private collection and bought this elegant Jaguar whilst attending the Essen Show a few years ago. Having just been restored by the German specialists OMTS GmbH in Gottingen and presented on their stand at that event, the car was then taken from Essen to the Isle of Man where our vendor lives.

During the restoration, the decision was taken to move away from some of the more 'spartan' aspects of XK ownership and add a few upgrades with long road tours/rallies in mind and was therefore fitted with modern seats and a 5-speed Tremec T5 gearbox. The decision was also taken to repaint the whole car in Gunmetal Grey, classically complementing the red leather interior. Our vendor has really enjoyed his ownership of this lovely example over the past few years and it's been used regularly as intended on European trips with many fond memories and new friends being made along the way.

This is an XK150 for the driving enthusiast, to use and enjoy on many more pleasurable road tours around Europe and we welcome and encourage any interested parties to enquire or come see it for themselves at the NEC.
