Vehicle History
Remarks
YOG306 was built on the 24th March 1958 and dispatched on the 27th to the Engineering Department at Land Rover. The vehicle has been researched and discussed in detail with S2 club members and has unique features (such as a one-off heater fitted and early brake servo). On closer inspection, the bodywork appears to be all original with the addition of a Station Wagon hardtop being fitted post-dispatch and fitted out inside as a Station Wagon (and painted limestone -it was built as an export model, full tilt in bronze green). You can see the carefully filled in holes along the top of the original windscreen frame where the hooks for the tilt would have been. It is assumed this conversion work was carried out at the factory. The vehicle retains its original registration number and prototype 2.25 petrol engine (stamped P2.25/64). It was fully rebuilt onto a galvanised chassis in 2011 and has receipts covering £12k of work in the last 10yrs (see last photo). The export model’s with the chassis numbers 1428’s were the earliest S2 produced. 142800001 was dispatched in secret to the Australian Army for trials and 142800002 (YAC 61 - Rover service dept.) and 142800003 (YAC 62 - Rover publicity dept.) retained by LR. Of all the earliest 1428’s produced, only 2 survive - 142800016 (in New Zealand) and YOG306. This makes the vehicle the oldest Series 2. Comprehensive paperwork/receipts for the last 10 years with information/research carried out on its early life. Heritage Certificate.
Import Notes
Fully rebuilt on a new galvanised chassis in 2011
