1960 Daimler SP250 'A-Spec'

Top-down fun with striking looks...Produced in Coventry from 1959 to 1964, the Daimler SP250 was originally known as the 'Dart', but Daimler soon dropped the Dart name when threatened with legal action by Chrysler's Dodge division, and the car was then renamed the Daimler SP250. TV talk show host and a custodian of two hundred cars, Jay Leno, has a Dart and raved about the car's attributes in his popular YouTube video series. Such was the speed and agility of the Dart many British police forces used them as response and chase cars along the new motorway systems.

Enjoyed by its enthusiastic owner for 26 years, this fabulous Dart is reading 68,000 miles and has been subject to a rolling maintenance/restoration program over the years. In 1995, it was repainted in its original colour and various bits of brightwork were rechromed at the same time and a year later the car acquired a new hood.

In 2004, it was taken down to its bare chassis, any repairs necessary were carried out and then the chassis was zinc sprayed and powder coated. At the same time the gearbox was overhauled, the brakes refurbished and the worm and peg steering, the suspension and the stainless steel exhaust were all brought up to scratch as the car was being reassembled. An engine rebuild in 2007 resulted in a higher than ideal oil consumption, so the whole thing was rebuilt again this year and is only just 'run in'.

The Daimler Register can confirm that the Chassis, Engine, and Body of this SP250 are all original. Finished in an attractive shade of Maroon with a black interior, '1550 UE' is supplied with a history file going back some 26 years and a fresh MoT certificate valid until April 2017.
