1960 Ford Zodiac Saloon

The classic Teddy Boy cruiser...In 1956, Ford restyled the Consul, Zephyr, and Zodiac and the 6-cylinder engines were enlarged to 2,553 cc, with power output correspondingly raised to 86 bhp and top speed increased to 88mph.

The Zodiac and Zephyr were also offered in two body styles, the ""Highline"" and ""Lowline"", depending on the year of manufacture - the difference being 1.75 in being cut from the height of the roof panel. The ""Highline"" featured a hemispherical instrument cluster, whereas the ""Lowline"" had a more rectangular panel.

This particular 1960 model, is delightfully finished in Ermine White over Pompadour Blue which is an unusual and rare combination for a Zodiac. The car has been the subject of a thorough restoration over recent times as can clearly be seen from the photographs, especially the interior shots which show the, recently retrimmed, seats at their best.

The previous owner had the engine fully rebuilt along with a new clutch and the steering overhauled. His successor has made an excellent job of fully repairing and restoring the bodywork prior to thorough preparation and a professional respray. The interior was then brought back to life including a new headlining and carpets and now looks fabulous. Many other ancillary items were also replaced and to top it off a period 'Radiomobile' was sourced and fitted with updated wiring. Between the two of them, they managed to spend £11,547.66 (receipts with the car) and it shows.

These Zodiacs are rarely offered for sale on the open market, so one in this condition represents a super opportunity for someone to grab a slice of 'rock and roll era' motoring history .
