1961 Land Rover Series 2a 2.25 diesel

365 FOA was first registered in the UK on the 13th November, 1961 and since that time has had just three former keepers, before our vendor bought it two years ago. He had searched long and hard for a specific vehicle and was pleased to find an early 2a (number 187) in unmolested and original condition, and perfect for his proposed complete nut and bolt restoration.

He did not intend to compromise on any aspect of the project and spent time and money sourcing the correct parts to return 365 FOA to its former glory. A new galvanised chassis has been fitted and painted black, the original bulkhead has had new footwells welded in and to protect them from future rusting issues all steel parts have been galvanised. A full bare metal re-spray in Marine Blue, new Exmoor trim, elephant hide seats and a new canvass rear roof all combine to make this Series 2a look the part.

The same attention to detail was applied to the restoration of all things mechanical, and the 2.25 diesel engine was re-bored, the crank re-ground and the cylinder head overhauled. The gearbox and differential are fresh with new bearings, gaskets and seals, new brakes were fitted with all the relevant braking systems and a stainless steel exhaust finishes it off.

All parts used are of the highest quality available and original style rivets, nuts and bolts have been used throughout. Many thousands have been spent to make this Land Rover the best it can be. A genuine nut and bolt restoration that drives perfectly. One of the very best available.
