DESCRIPTION

The "Bonneville' name was derived from the achievements of Texas racer Johnny Allen on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. In September 1955, Allen achieved a two-way average speed of 193.3mph on his special motorcycle the ''Devils Arrow'', it was a 650cc twin-cylinder Triumph. The engine was fuelled by methanol and it had a unique streamlined fairing. Triumph gained masses of publicity from this event and a motorcycle legend was born.

Think of the days of export guarantees when America reached for its wallet and went out and bought the T120 by the boatload. Britain was proud and Triumph was on top of the world, the Bonneville -- an historic icon? Certainly, if sales statistics and the legends passed through generations are anything to go by.

We are informed by the vendor that this particular motorbike has been the subject of a home build restoration which has resulted in it being finished to a very high standard and it is now in ' as new' condition, even though must be remembered that this is an excellent replica of the real thing. The bike rides superbly and sounds glorious and is a fitting tribute to a motorcycle legend, it has an MOT until April 2013, a superb compliment to an historic motorcycle.
