DESCRIPTION
Entrepreneur and car nut, Jack Turner, introduced his fabulous little sports cars to the UK in 1951 and produced them in Wolverhampton up until 1966. The MG Midget and the Austin Healey Sprite were production cars for the masses also built during this period. However, any discerning driver of the day would tell you that for real sports car performance and handling - it was the highly specialist and lightweight Turner that delivered the goods!
There are only 350 or so Turners left on the road in the world today and we challenge you to find a nicer one than this!
Built in 1961 as a series II Sports (see www.turnersportscars.co.uk) with a BMC 'A ' series engine that was originally 948cc, it has just been the subject of a complete nut and bolt rebuild by highly regarded Turner expert, John Cullis. Today it has a freshly rebuilt 1275cc BMC A series engine with a rebuilt BMC A series gearbox. Infact John assures us that every single thing on this car has been rebuilt, reconditioned or restored - it really is that good!
Having covered just 400 miles since this comprehensive rebuild and restoration, the car is now perfect to enjoy the coming Spring and Summer months with the wind in your hair in a rare and exciting piece of British motoring history. And how much wider will your grin become when you consider that these rare cars are now steadily escalating in value as their rarity and engineering qualities become more and more recognised.
The comprehensive history file includes a photographic record of all restorative works done, as well as various other bills and receipts. The cost of just a restoration to this standard today, we are assured, would be well North of £20,000 which makes this little car outstanding value in the sale today.
