DESCRIPTION

The 31 CSR was AMC's sports 650cc answer to the BSA Rocket Gold Star, Super Rocket and Triumph Bonneville. Comparatively rare in the early and most attractive format, the only 650 twin of the era boasting a 3 bearing crankshaft, which gave super smooth performance, coupled to a decent gearbox. Output was rated at 46 BHP, although the machine was a little heavier than its better known rivals, its performance was still comparable with its siblings. Later versions of this machine were fitted with Norton wheels and forks and somewhat unattractive garish chrome work on the petrol tank.

This particular CSR has been meticulously restored to its former glory, with some subtle up-grades, such as stainless rims and spokes and sports an electronic contactless mag conversion, running 2 coils, hidden in the tool box. The trigger wiring is concealed in what was once one of the plug leads, so that visually, the machine looks original. The oil tank has been fitted with an "anti wet-sumping tap to avoid the contents of the tank migrating to the crankcase during long periods of storage. All in all, a perfect, rare and appreciating classic "60's icon that will give many years of trouble free use, with comparatively little maintenance.
