SUMMARY
An FIA-papered Jaguar E-Type Coupe ready to race.
DESCRIPTION
Prepared to FIA (Period F 1962-65) Class GTS12 spec by Spirit Automotive
Fresh FIA HTP papers expiring in December 2025
Engine rebuild and new cylinder head by highly respected Rob Beere
Invoices in the history file indicate expenditure in excess of £150,000
Eligible for many series including the Masters, Le Mans Classic and Spa 6 hours
Supplied with a UK V5c - potential Tours entrant and very versatile
Originally built in 2001 as a race car to compete in the 'E-Type Racing Experience Series' to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the E-Type at that time and driven by Barrie "Whizzo" Williams in the inaugural race at Donington Park.
The car was then subsequently prepared to FIA (period F 1962-1965) Class GTS12 specification by Spirit Automotive who also sent the engine to the highly respected Rob Beere for a full rebuild and a brand new cylinder head.
Dyno readouts showing a healthy 321bhp are in the car's history file along with clear evidence of professional maintenance during the following decade. During this time the car has been driven by some very distinguished names including ex-F1 racer Mike Wilds, saloon expert Karl Jones, and Le Mans driver Oliver Bryant, as well as Ed McDonough, who is the European editor of Vintage Race Car magazine in the USA.
Fitted with an alloy bonnet, a full welded-in roll cage, 140-litre FIA fuel tank with pump dry system valid until the end of 2019, alloy radiator, plumbed-in fire system, lightweight windows, a new bell housing, and fast-crank starter motor as well as a Gary Pearson prepared, close-ratio synchromesh gearbox and a GKN-rebuilt, limited slip differential.
The total bills in the history file easily surpass £150,000 and the car is eligible for all FIA series such as the Masters, Classic Le Mans, Spa 6 hours, GT and Sports Car Cup etc.
Last used at Spa just over 12 months ago, the FIA HTP papers have recently been renewed and are the latest type, valid until 31st December 2025. The car also has a UK V5C and can thus be used on the roads for Tours etc. The last MoT in the paperwork expired on 19th July 2017.....
All in all, this fabulous E-Type offers superb value at an absolute fraction of what it would cost to prepare something similar today. Great fun to drive and super looking too!
