1962 MG MGA 1600

In near perfect condition, this 1962 MGA 1600 MKII roadster is offered in rare mineral blue and has been subject to a full body-off restoration, complete with a comprehensive photo report of this process, which is with the car and available to view.

In 1961, the MGA received an updated 1622cc engine, alongside a higher ratio 4:1 rear axle, and front disk brakes paired with the original rear drum brakes. This created the 1600 MKII, boasting a more relaxed high speed driving experience and a top speed of 105mph (Road and Track magazine). Visual changes included an inset grill and Mini tail lamps in both the roadster and coupe models. The Mk.II was produced between 1960-1962 so production numbers were lower than earlier Marks.

Extensive work on this car was completed in 2012 and included a complete overhaul of the brakes, engine, exhaust system and front suspension. The 4 speed manual gearbox has been stripped, cleaned and restored, as have the wheel bearings and the starter motor. A new alternator has been fitted and the ignition system has been renewed with a new coil and spark plug leads. The water pump, hoses, and radiator heater valve have been cleaned and restored, wheels and tires all replaced, a new battery fitted, fuel tank redone and the entire lighting system improved. Finally, the interior has been finished to a fabulous standard with red leather, leathercloth and matching red carpets, the roof has been refurbished and a full respray in a lovely shade of blue completes the concours standard restoration of this very special car, which has been driven less than 400 dry km since this work was completed. In short, this MGA 1600 roadster is perfectly restored, in great condition, and raring to go!
