DESCRIPTION

The Triumph Cub was destined for great things when compared to other small capacity motorcycles in its class. In the early fifties most alternatives were "two-strokes' and here Triumph offered a four-stroke with lively performance from its single cylinder 149cc T15 Terrier model . A year after its appearance in November 1953 the sports version arrived in the form of the T20 Tiger Cub. Although by now the opposition had caught up, the Cub still offered value for money and impressive speed.

With imaginative paintwork, along with performance and economy, the Cub was desirable and of course it had the Triumph ''look'' of its bigger brothers, the 500cc and 650cc Twins.

In the UK the Cub's competition arena was in Trials events mainly because of its agility and light weight. The day of larger capacity machines was over. For very nearly a decade the Cub and its derivatives provided the platform for the 'Trialists' and launched numerous adaptions right up to the Comerfords Cubs of 1964/65. Famous exponents included Roy Peplow, Ray Sayer and Gordon Farley.

The Cub offered for sale here is a beautifully restored Works replica in stunning condition having covered just 127 miles since its completion. It is described as a "concours quality' restoration by the vendor. Bright chrome-work, that has been professionally administered, Red over Silver paintwork on the tank plus a keen and sympathetic eye to detail combine to make this the best Tiger Cub we've seen. The bike further benefits from retaining its original buff log book amongst its history. Certainly a piece worthy of consideration for any serious or budding collector.

The official Triumph Team Replicas (of which this is one) had a different chassis number starting with TR and was one of only a few made in 1962, the vendor believes less than 200, but is a lot rarer now. There are many copies of these available now, but very few have the "real" chassis number and are therefore not the real deal.
