DESCRIPTION
When Triumph introduced the TR4 in 1961 nobody would have believed that future sales success would mean over 40,000 cars would be built and sold by the end of production in 1965.
This car came off the production line in 1962 as a right drive export car destined for the sunny climes of Cyprus. Repatriated in June 1965 (which the UK V5C shows as the first date of registration) the car was converted during it's later life in to a highly successful race car and was campaigned in 2000/2001 in the HSCC Historic Road Sports series by Andrew Tart, as well as the CSCC Swing Sixties series, running in a lightly modified format.
Purchased by our vendor early in 2012, it was then the subject of a professional rebuild and upgrading by known and highly respected TR experts' TR Enterprises', who fitted a fresh full race engine running on twin 48DCOE Webers with FIA spec 38 chokes. The dyno sheet, dated March 2013, shows that 194BHP was on tap and the history file tells us this came at a price of £14,500.
They also fitted a new SCCR 'dog' gearbox for a further cost of £4,005, as well as FIA approved period adjustable lever arch dampers and a front suspension overhaul for a further cost of £7,018. Finally a new FIA seat, seat belts and extinguisher were fitted in addition to a custom made long range 100 litre foam filled alloy fuel tank.
The car was then raced in and finished the Spa 6 Hours, but subsequently used very little since - due to the owner's business committments.
Coming with full FIA HTP papers (August 2012), an MOT until Oct '14 and Triumph Heritage certificate, as well as a selection of spares, the car is available today at a fraction of it's recent rebuild costs and offers an extremely good value entry on to many European FIA grids.
Please note that the registration number shown in the pictures is specifically excluded from the sale of this Lot. The car will come with it's original UK reg no. 'GGF 548C'.
