DESCRIPTION

Possibly one of the most successful Anglias to race in the HSCC Racing Saloon series, this car has an outstanding build specification and has been driven by both John Shipman and Mark Hales in the recent past.

In 2000, this car set the lap record at Silverstone for the 1000cc class and has gone on to set more lap records at many circuits on its way to many class victories. At the end of the 2000 season, the car was subject to a 700hr bare metal shell re-build. The car was comprehensively updated with many modifications and also fitted with a 1300cc Geoff Richardson engine. Now weighing approximately only 600 kilograms, the vehicle was extensively raced and tested by Mark Hales and comes with set up data for many UK and European circuits both in dry and wet conditions.

The car has had a worldwide race career with many lap records, race wins and championship victories.

Here are a selection of the lap times:

MONTHLERY (2.1miles) 1.44 CHIMAY (2.8miles) 2.14 ANDERSTORP (2.5miles) 2.00 DONINGTON GP (2.5miles) 2.04 SPA (4.3miles) 3.06 SILVERSTONE GP (3.1miles) 2.17 SILVERSTONE CLUB (1.6miles) 1.13

The car is fitted with glass fibre bonnet, boot, doors and wings and Lexan windows. In 2007, it was also fitted with a new Advanced Fuel Systems Polyurethane Fuel Cell (current) which also comprises Facet pump in the boot.

The Geoff Richardson built engine is a 1300 dry sumped pre-cross flow GR010102 to full Cosworth specification. It includes Arrow con-rods and Twin 45 Webers producing 154bhp @ 8100rpm and 105 lbs/ft torque @ 6000rpm. The transmission is a 3 rail close-ratio, straight-cut gearbox with Tony Thompson magnesium bellhousing and gearbox casing, aluminium tailshaft and differential. Uprated half shafts are also fitted. It takes a lot to slow down this quick car, and as such, it is fitted with Wilwood 4 pot callipers with vented discs at the front, and Wilwood 2 pot callipers with solid discs at the rear, bias pedal box and remote fluid reservoir. The suspension is Leda 2.25" coilovers with alloy hubs at front, and Leda uprated dampers with remote reservoirs and single leaf springs at the rear. Attached to all this are 6Jx14" Minilight-style wheels with CR 65 Dunlop racing tyres.

The purposeful interior compromises of Stack dials, quick release steering wheel, Sparco bucket seat, Willans four-point harness, weld-in roll cage built to FIA spec and tunnel mounted switchgear.

Welcome in the 2012 HSCC Historic Touring Car series and with the correct technical papers, this car is now on the button and ready to race. For a car reputed to have cost close to £100k to build and develop, it certainly looks like serious value for money today!
