Starting:

Running:

Remarks

Fitted with 352 cu V8 (5.7 litre). Car was in professional storage for several years until last 2022, leading to a build-up of debris in the carbs. This has now been sorted by VC Classics (Doncaster) and the engine is now running well and revving freely - as it did when first imported. Starts easily. Cooling system v efficient and no overheating problems or high readings ever encountered.

Transmission

Gears:

Clutch:

Drive-Shaft:

Remarks

Running as it should - smooth gear changes including kickdown. Gear lever operates correctly and smoothly.

Running Gear

Axles:

Chassis:

Suspension:

Bearings:

Brakes:

Wheels & Tyres:

Remarks

As expected from a car of this age. Power steering works properly, steering is vague in the straight ahead position as was common in large American cars of the period. The drum brakes have recently been inspected and fettled; they require reasonable force, but again would have performed similarly when new.

Electrics

Minor:

Major:

Remarks

Electrics (including power convertible top and radio) all working fine except for: fuel gauge (recently tested and just needs a new sender unit, wires are OK and works when earthed out) & original temp gauge (an auxiliary gauge is fitted).

Vehicle History

Remarks

Car was built in Boston on 14 November 1963, and painted in Ford Rangoon red - the same colour as now. Then made its way to Florida from where it was imported to the UK by me in 2013, and I have owned it ever since. Kept in professional dry storage for several years. No accidents, incidents or breakdowns while in my hands. Passed MOTs in 2013 and 2015 and has only covered 147 miles since the last MOT 8 years ago. V C Classics wrote on 24th August (invoice in the UK history file): "noted car in good overall condition, very minor oil leaks from around rear of engine and around power steering". Current mileage shown as 77,887. No US history file to show probable actual mileage. UK history file includes import documentation, old MOTs, and invoices from Rodley Motors (2013, 2015 and 2022), and V C Classics August 2024.

Restoration Notes

Restored in USA approx. 20 years ago. No additional details.

Import Notes

Imported from Florida in 2013.
