DESCRIPTION

The Jaguar E-Type was introduced in March 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show to worldwide acclaim. The car was produced initially as a fixed head coupe and a soft top convertible, both with a 3.8 litre straight six engine. A pre-production car won its first race at Oulton Park in May 1961, driven by Graham Hill, and the rest of E-Type history became well known legend. When first seen by Enzo Ferrari he commented it was:' the most beautiful car in the world'.

This car was professionally prepared for the 2011 season by the well respected team at Revival Motorsport from Mallory Park, and it has since entered all the significant major UK historic racing events. One of the drivers for the 2011 season was two times British Touring Car Champion John Cleland who commented "whenever I drove BGC 6B I was amazed how taught and precise it was and certainly surprised how it could give so many of the Class A cars a run for their money".

It is built to F.I.A. homologation 34 (Pre '63) specification and runs in class B of the E-type Challenge with correct HTP papers and is therefore eligible for all major British and European historic sports car events, including Carol Spagg's Pre-63 GT Series.

Chassis no.861288 was originally a road car supplied in Oct 1963, but was converted in to a race car in 2002 and went on to win the Jaguar Cup in the Thoroughbred and Sportscar Championship in 2005.

At the end of 2010/early 2011, the car was stripped and rebuilt for the 50th year celebration of the E-Type, including a complete repaint of the all steel shell. It was also fitted with a T45 6 point cage by Custom Cages, a 6 point harness and twin aluminium leather covered racing seats. The car runs on the correct 5.5 X15 MSW stainless steel spokes and chrome wire wheels, and is shod with Dunlop racing tyres. The brakes and suspension are fully optimised within the regulations and feature Gaz custom shock absorbers, poly bush mountings, hollow torsion bars and competition brake pads etc. Transmission is via an all synchro close ratio 4 speed gearbox combined with a 3.54 power lock diff and GKN driveshafts.Power comes from a reliable Rob Beere 3.8 engine built to full race specification with forged pistons and a tuftrided crankshaft, giving 315bhp and running an 11:1 compression ratio. The car had a hugely successful 2011 season with class wins at the Oulton Park Gold Cup, The Guards Trophy at Croft, The Silverstone Classic and the Goodwood Revival. Now ready for a new owner to enjoy and win again, the car is offered today at a fraction of its recent rebuild cost. It could also still be used on the road, it has a current MOT, and is therefore also eligible for all sorts of Tours and historic rallies.
