DESCRIPTION

This car was built by FossTech Engineering during the time that they were building the works Honda 'Super Tourers' for the British Touring Car Championship. The car was being built for the then proprietor of the company, Mr. Thompson, father of the BTCC Team Triple 8 'works' Vauxhall driver, James Thompson, in order that his Father could race on the same programme as his son at BTCC events, but in the ICS Historic Racing Series.

Sadly as Mr. Thompson Senior passed away shortly before the car was finished, it was never raced by him and the car was subsequently sold to the present owner who purchased the car direct from James Thompson.

At the time the owner was informed by someone who knew the late Mr. Thompson that the car had cost him over £142,000 and at that stage it had not yet been finished. It was reputed at the time that this cost would not have included any labour and was for parts alone!

The car has been raced occasionally since purchase in the BARC/CTCRC Classic Thunder Series and on one occasion was driven by the late and great David Leslie. Due to recent business commitments the car has not been used by the vendor for the last three years. During this time the 6.1 litre 'small block' Ford, dry-sumped engine was rebuilt and dyno tested by the original builder, Mr. David Powell of Performance Unlimited in Yorkshire and is fitted with MSD ignition. The results of the dyno test showed that the car now produces 637 bhp and 518 lbs ft torque! It will spin its wheels in top gear on dry tarmac!

The car is fitted with a Jerico gearbox, a Quarter Master twin plate sintered clutch and slave cylinder and has a Mark Adams 'modular rear axle' fitted with a Detroit locker and tripod jointed outboard hubs allowing camber and toe to solid rear axle and a differential mounted alternator. The wiring loom is by Ray Fast. Stopping this 637bhp Falcon is achieved by 6 pot AP racing calipers with water cooling and vented discs on the front and 4 pot with vented discs to the rear. Suspension is coil springs at the rear and double-wishbone front with touring car type 'through hub' cooling and fabricated uprights. Penske two way coil over dampers and standard 2.25" springs. Rear suspension is coil springs with a fully linked axle location and Penske two way dampers. The wheels are Tecno magnesium. The Falcon is also fitted with an extensive full custom built welded in T45 roll cage that extends throughout the car to give added stiffness and saftey to the car, even through in to the boot compartment - where a professional full racing fuel cell is fitted. (please click on pictures and expand)

The present owner has had the wheel arches slightly flared to accommodate wider wheels if desired, but before that the shape of the body work was entirely standard and it would therefore be a simple matter to revert to original body style.

Externally this car looks virtually standard, making it the ultimate 'wolf in sheep's clothing', but is infact probably the most highly developed and technically advanced 1960's Ford Falcon in the UK today.

A fantastic opportunity to acquire a tremendous car, at a relatively modest price cost when compared to the build cost alone, that is eligible today for various UK racing series - including those organised by the BARC - and a sure fire winner in the right hands in Bernie Chodosh's new HVRA series for American V8 Historic Touring Cars.
