DESCRIPTION

The Mini Cooper has been a mainstay of the Motorsport scene around the world for over fifty years. From enthralling battles with much larger counterparts in period, to later day giant killing performances in historic touring cars. The Mini Cooper represented an opportunity to compete at high levels for privateers with cars not far removed from the works entrants, enhanced by a plethora of emerging tuning companies and race/rally parts.

Offered here is the one of the most competitive FIA Historic Minis available in Europe. As with all successful historic racers the job of preparation is simplified by sourcing the best example to work with. Originally built in 2009 by Pyro Motorsport for Andy Hack and race partner Darren Turner, this genuine Cooper S was discovered in South Africa and became the basis for this ultra competitive Mini. Its first outing was at the 2009 Goodwood Revival Historic Mini Race finishing an excellent 2nd in an epic race. Since then is has become one of most well known, best prepared and quickest Historic race Minis to date mainly in the Historic Master pre-1966 Mini Series.

The Swiftune 1293cc engine is built to strict FIA Appendix K regulations and produces 125 -130 BHP. With decades of know how, this is the most reliable latest specification engine. It includes H4 SUs' - the period carburettors of choice with trumpets with fuel bowl extensions. The modified 3-syncromesh straight cut gearbox has also just been rebuilt. With all the safety components in date and custom welded in cage this original Cooper S is presented in race ready state and finished to remarkably high standard commensurate with a front running car.

At the Brands Hatch Mini Festival in 2013 Andy Hack, partnered by Dan Wheeler, won the Sanway two driver race. Second was Nick Swift, the racing Mini benchmark.

To build this car today would probably require a £70,000 investment and would not guarantee the competitive edge or profile that this Historic Cooper S already enjoys.
