DESCRIPTION

BMW's successor to the 1500 saloon was the 1800, it was launched in September of 1963, with a 1,773cc, 90bhp engine. One interesting variation of the 1800 was the 1800ti (Turismo Internazionale) which continued the manufacturer's trend towards sporting motoring by delivering 110bhp, courtesy of twin side draft Solex carburetors and an increased compression ratio of 9.5:1, while the chassis featured stiffer suspension. With the BMW 1800ti drivers clinched numerous victories, including Hubert Hahne winning the German Circuit Championship in 1964.

This 1800Ti was converted to a racing car in Germany by Scuderia Bavaria in 1995. The history file documents the process with photographs of the car taken back to bare metal. Since completion, the car has been campaigned by an assortment of talented drivers predominantly in the U2TC (a series for pre-1966 under two litre Touring Cars with races at Donington, Monza, Silverstone, Spa and Nurburgring)) and HSCC touring car series. More recently, this 1800Ti has been upgraded with Laranca suspension and in 2011 an engine from BMW specialist Lester Owen. The Dyno readings show a healthy 195bhp on tap.

Having been owned by a number of prominent BMW collectors, chassis number 983615 has had a distinguished life in motorsport. Campaigned throughout the racing circuits of Europe by drivers such as Graham and Oliver Bryant and Nick Adams, this car has proved to be highly competitive. In fact at the Silverstone Classic in 2011 it came 3rd in class. Complete with a large spares package of wheels, tyres, brakes parts and engine spares, this little BMW is provided with FIA papers, MSA Historic Technical Passport and is ready to take part at some of the most prestigious events in the historic motorsport calendar.
