1965 FIA Ford Mustang

UK saloon racing in the 1960's was epitomised by the battles between the American V8's and the English Lotus Ford Cortinas and Austin Minis of the day. They were driven, in this early period of the BTCC, by Grand-Prix stars of the day such as Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart and Sir Stirling Moss, as well as saloon car specialists like Frank Gardener, Brian Muir and Gerry Marshall. It was an exciting and evocative period of racing and the crowds enjoyed the closeness of the racing brought about by the contrasting abilities of the nimble Cortinas and Minis and the straight line speed of the V8's.

Today both the Masters Touring Car series and the HSCC saloons recreate this great period of racing with rounds in both the UK and Europe. This car is eligible for all such series throughout Europe and has been professionally built and prepared by the noted historic team of Rod Cattini Motorsport to full FIA spec.

The engine was professionally rebuilt by Steve Warrior in 2010 to the ultimate legal specification and has only been used for one race since, resulting in just 7 hours running total. The car has the correct Ford Toploader gearbox fitted, along with a Detroit Locker differential and a full racing spec interior and wiring loom. Running on Minilite wheels with Dunlop racing tyres (2 sets of each) and an ATL fuel cell (which can be life extended for 2 years beyond May 2013) the car is now ready to be raced and enjoyed by the next owner.
