DESCRIPTION

Ex-Chris Evans owned car!

Introduced at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show and produced until 1971, the 230SL was based on the W111 sedan platform, with a reduced wheelbase, recirculating ball steering, double wishbone front suspension and an independent single-joint, low-pivot swing rear axle with a transverse compensator spring. Offered with a 4-speed manual transmission, or an optional, very responsive fluid coupled 4-speed automatic transmission, the former was the more popular choice in Europe.

Offered here is a right-hand drive, automatic, 1965 230SL Pagoda finished in blue with a black interior and supplied with a body coloured hardtop in nice condition.

The history file accompanying the car begins at 1987 with one Lord of the Manor of Newtown being the owner! During his tenure until 1993, the car was maintained by Rivervale Mercedes-Benz of Reading. After this time the car passed to a Mrs Joy Cox who owned the 230SL until it was purchased by television producer Suzie Aplin in 1996.

The following owner of "ECV 638C' became CarFest's very own Chris Evans in 2000, who kept the car for a year or so before moving on. The next keeper took ownership from 2001 until 2014/15 when the car was purchased by our vendor. Upon purchase it was fettled mechanically and resprayed to ensure it looked its best.

With a great ownership history and supplied with an MoT until February 2016, a UK V5c, drivers handbook and a wad of paperwork & bills, this car is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner!
