DESCRIPTION

The Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III, introduced in 1963, was the final development of the Silver Cloud line first offered in 1955, and was regarded by many as the finest in the company's history. Rolls Royce obviously felt the same way as the III was proudly advertised as "The Best Car in the World". Powered by the same stalwart 6.2 litre all alloy V8 that powered the Cloud II, but with a bit more power and a little less weight the Cloud III was a sprightly performer.

Even after the introduction of its successor, the new monocoque Shadow, the Cloud III chassis and engine combination continued in production alongside the new car for a couple of years at the request of a number of traditional coachbuilders. With it's smooth and efficient power plant, aristocratic looks and majestic presence the Cloud III would become the first choice for celebrities and landed gentry alike.

ETV 2C was first registered on the 9th of July 1965 and, having had just 6 former keepers, presents extremely well with its Silver over Blue paintwork, cream leather interior and the obligatory front and rear Lambswool rugs.

The current vendor has taken care of this Cloud for 9 years and during this period has invested heavily in it's maintenance and upkeep with expenditure being, reportedly, in excess of £40,000. We are advised that over the last nine years the car has benefited from a bare metal respray by Bodycraft of Wolverhampton, most of the bright work re chromed, fitted with a correct fully reconditioned engine (sourced by Bentley, Birmingham), the fuel tank replaced and the heating and ventilating system restored to health. The lovely interior enjoys a new headlining and a modern radio/cd player is hidden pleasingly behind the original radio facia.

This fine car is supplied with its complete original tool kit, a custom-made Rolls Royce car cover, an original "History of Manufacture" booklet and the Owners Manual. The accompanying history file includes service records for the last 9 years, the last service shown as the 10th of July, 2014, the V5C, past MOTs and an assortment of bills and service receipts. The odometer shows 82,289 miles which we believe to be genuine and the current MoT expires in July, 2015.

The Rolls Royce Cloud III represented the pinnacle of British engineering with an enviable reputation in the early sixties and in today's market is unbeatable in terms of style and value.
