1965 Vanden Plas Princess 4.0R

A restored and increasingly rare Princess 4-Litre R with just one registered keeper from new!...

This Vanden-Plas Princess 4-Litre 'R' has benefitted from a thorough three-year restoration which commenced in January 2008 and the results were very pleasing. All the work was carried out under the watchful eye of marque experts at The Village Garage, Northants.

The car had arrived with them partly dismantled, and with the body having been cut away to expose areas of corrosion. New parts were hard to find, so this meant that much of the bodywork had to be painstakingly created by hand to ensure a perfect fit. Once satisfied that the body was completely rust free, a healthy coating of Mason Black over Grey paint was applied and polished until the highest standard of finish was achieved.

New brake lines were fitted along with new shoes and cylinders and a new exhaust. The shock absorbers were replaced along with new bushes and new tyres were fitted at the time to the freshly painted wheels. The engine bay was stripped of its ancillaries and each item was inspected and refurbished or replaced as required.

The car was then lightly run in for months to iron out any issues. With the odd mechanical gremlin addressed, "CNH 737C' was returned to the Village Garage in March 2011 when new underlay and carpets were fitted. To complete the finish, the brightwork was professionally re-chromed at a cost of more than £2,400 and it all remains in excellent condition.

It's rare to find a Vanden-Plas Princess 4.0 R in such remarkable condition. Unusually it's accompanied by its Buff Log Book and later V5 document both confirming that there has only been one registered keeper, however, it has been in the possession of our vendor for 12 years who never quite got around to registering it in his name. No matter, easily rectified and this 4 litre V-P certainly appears to have been treated like a 'Princess'. The car is offered for sale with a fresh MoT valid until May 2017, and viewing is absolutely recommended.
