DESCRIPTION

The famed Jaguar Mk.II was voted car of the year when introduced in 1959. With 3 engine options - 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 (the 3.8 being the fastest saloon in the world at the time), it would form the mainstay of Jaguar's saloon production until 1967.

It became popular with the Police Force because its performance and reliability coincided with the opening of Britain's new motorway system (and was also driven equally fast by the corresponding villains of the day!). It also enjoyed competition success in the early days of the BTCC driven by many 60's period racers including Graham Hill and Jack Sears. The popular TV series 'Morse' also immortalised the shape of the Jag in the minds of a new generation of followers.

This particular Jaguar Mk.II 3.4 saloon is an original right-hand drive UK car, fitted with manual overdrive and retains its original engine. It has been in the possession of a renowned restorer of 1960's sports cars for the past seven years in which time the car has been slowly restored at the request of its ageing owner. The recipient of various mechanical upgrades such as power steering and 4 pot brake callipers, this car was also treated to a full brake overhaul and the removal of the engine and gearbox to fit a new clutch. The beautiful condition of this car today is a direct result of the care and attention bestowed on it over the years. A full interior "refresh' incorporating all new trim in attractive biscuit leather, new carpets, and the replacement of all the interior wood make this car very special indeed.

Sadly, the passing of the owner means that the car must be now sold, and accordingly, a very sensible guide price is present - particularly when you consider the recent expenditure on the car exceeds £12,000! A very handsome and timeless Jaguar, we expect that the new owner of this car will be very pleased indeed as they drive away from the auction!...
