1966 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 Manual with O/D

The famed Jaguar MkII was voted car of the year when introduced in 1959. With 3 engine options at 2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 litres (the 3.8 being the fastest production saloon in the world at the time), it would form the mainstay of Jaguar's saloon production until 1967.Popular with the Police Force because its high top speed, rapid acceleration and reliability made it perfect for the recently opened new motorway system (which coincidentally were the same reasons it was popular with the villains of the day!). It also enjoyed competition success in the early days of the BSCC driven by many 60's period racers including Graham Hill and Jack Sears. The popular TV series 'Morse' also immortalised the shape of the Jag in the minds of a new generation of followers.

The last time this delightful MkII 3.8 manual with over drive graced the roads was in 2000, and it has been dry stored since then. It's offered for sale now having been sympathetically re-commissioned, including a full service, a new fuel tank, new chrome wire wheels, tyres and an amount of cosmetic detailing.

The comprehensive history folder contains details of the restoration that took place in 1988 with over 100 photographs of the process, including an engine and gearbox rebuild and an interior re-trim. Invoices with the car detail the £13,250 that was spent. Documentation would suggest that, at this time, the mileage was 5,705 and it now reads 13,000.

The V5c shows just six former keepers and a recent MoT has been issued.

Having been lovingly cared for throughout its life, this everyday usable classic, with power steering, will prove to be a faithful steed and offers a new owner many happy miles of stylish motoring.
