1967 Jaguar S-Type 3.4 litre

The Jaguar S-Type was produced from 1963 to 1968. Having released the Mk.X with its many technical refinements, sentiment within Jaguar was that the Mk.II would need updating with similar features if it was to retain its place in the market.

The S-Type was a major redevelopment of the Mk.II. It used a mid-scale version of the Mk.X independent rear suspension to replace the Mk.II's live rear axle and featured longer rear bodywork, along with other styling and interior changes. The S-Type was available with either 3.4 or 3.8-litre XK engines but only with twin carburettors just like the Mk.II it was to replace.

The 1967 S Type 3.4 manual, with overdrive, on offer here is finished in Opalescent Dark Green with green leather interior. Having been subject to a £17,000 refurbishment by John Holmes of SVO two years ago the car has seen little use since. The work included the engine and gearbox being removed, the engine bay repainted and the radiator refurbished. The underside has been totally stripped, de-rusted, the crow's feet being replaced and then re-painted prior to being undersealed. The front and rear suspension has all been removed, stripped, blast cleaned, painted and rebuilt with new springs, dampers and bushes.

Finally the fuel tanks were overhauled by NAR, the carburettors rebuilt and the engine fully serviced. The engine runs well with good oil pressure with the car driving as well as it is presented. The interior is all in good condition with matching green carpet and good woodwork but could benefit from minor repair to the driver's seat.
