DESCRIPTION
Although not officially unveiled to the public until September 1948, the Morris Minor had been on the cards already for several years. As far back as 1943, Sir Alec Issigonis was refining the car that would eventually become the Minor. The monocoque design coupled with rack and pinion steering and small 14 inch wheels meant that the Minor handled quite well, and the motoring press of the time loved it.
Today the Morris Minor and 1000 are among the best served classic family-sized cars in the old vehicle movement and they continue to gain popularity. The enduring affection for the "Moggie" is reflected in the number of restored and improved Morris Minors currently running in Britain, Australasia and in India.
Today you have the opportunity to secure a rather special Traveller that has been the recipient of considerable recent restoration works achieving the finish you see here. First registered in April 1967 it was well cared for until 1977 when it passed to its second owner. A gap in the history makes it impossible to summise exactly where the car went from here, save for a lone MoT certificate from 1981 showing 51,091 miles against the 51,120 recorded today.
The mileage becomes inconsequential when you consider how expertly the current owner, who acquired the car with restoration in mind, has renovated this car. A new 1098cc engine, new gearbox, new brakes, battery and clutch have been married to this Moggie to give the buyer confidence in its ability to drive and perform well. To the interior, new red carpets and refreshed red leather to the seats lift the appearance of the cabin, whilst at the same time complementing the black paintwork beautifully. Furthermore, the wood panelling of the Traveller body is in very sound order as you would expect. Offered with UK V5 and fresh MoT test certificate this refreshed Moggie can be bought with confidence by a new owner to use and enjoy.
