DESCRIPTION
The Pontiac Parisienne was built by GM in Canada from 1958 to 1986 both as a car for the domestic market and as an export car to Australia. Available as a sedan or a convertible they were famous for the luxury of their interiors and their high standard specification.
This is a rare right hand drive convertible, originally built for the Australian export market in 1967, but it only got as far as Southampton before being offloaded and sold to its first UK owner and was then registered in Wales. The car was kept for the lifetime of the first owner before being passing on to his son who then kept it for a further 4 years, prior to it being purchased by our vendor. This known history suggests the recorded mileage of 56,000 to be genuine.
The car was then subject to a complete restoration by West London American car specialists, 'The Romance of Rust', where a total of £15,500 was spent on a complete rebuild and respray with lead loading, rather than filler, being used on all the body repairs.
Their detailing work included new door cards, new carpets throughout, a new power hood, re-sprung seats and fresh upholstery. More recently the car has benefitted from a complete service, a new fuel pump, alternator, front brake discs and calipers plus a new battery.
It comes complete with the original owner's manual, sales brochure and period Parts and Chassis Shop manuals. Said to drive superbly today by the enthusiastic vendor, it certainly offers a very rare opportunity to own a bit of genuine American muscle with the advantage of right hand drive.
