1967 Porsche 911 S SWB

First introduced to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, the Porsche 911 has now been in production for over fifty years. From its original production car base the 911 has become one of the most successful competition cars of all time, both as a circuit racer and rally car. As early as 1965 the 'Works' entered a 911 SWB in the Monte Carlo Rally, within two years Vic Elford was winning rounds in the European Championship. This very rare left-hand drive 2.0 S is a desirable SWB A-series European model from 1968. The current owner has treasured this example for a number of years. In that time it has been maintained correctly and has just been fully serviced by Porsche specialists P.I.E Performance. Works included all fluids changed and the exhaust replaced with a stainless steel unit. A full condition report will be available at the auction to perspective bidders. The engine in the vehicle is not the original but is an extremely rare 1965 2.0 litre unit that was completely stripped and re-built by T.M.W Engineering in Stalham. The cylinder heads were gas flowed and the crankshaft and bearings rebuilt. A larger diameter bore was specified with new pistons and barrels incorporated. New timing chains were fitted and the carburettors were also rebuilt. This work was carried out approximately 7 years ago and at considerable cost to the owner. The bodywork is described as very presentable, with good shut lines and no obvious signs of rust. The interior is in very original condition with the addition of later 911 seats. The originals are included in the sale but are not currently fitted. The car is up and running, sounding very raspy, and has a fresh MoT. The general condition would be best described as useable with lovely patina. The next owner could simply use this pretty little 911 'as-is' or paint the car to a very high standard and have a true concours contender. 911 S and SWB prices are certainly on the march and show no signs of slowing down.
