Frazer-Nash BMW 2000 TI

This car is a factory tuned version of the standard BMW 2000, produced using the original medium-sized 4-door shell on an 100.4ins wheelbase and utilising the same all-independent suspension. The rectangular headlamps aid instant indetification. The TI had twin dual-choke carbs giving 120bhp - exactly the same units as in smaller bodied 2002 derivatives.

For the UK market only, the Frazer-Nash-BMW was a 2002TI with different badging, the round head-lamps and extra equipment, sold through the regular BMW dealer network. Frazer-Nash being established in the 1920s and having made a name tuning and refining other German marques such as DKW and Porsche in the UK. Like other 2000s, the TI was superseded by 5-series cars in 1972. There were over 17,000 2000 series BMWs produced between 1966 and 1972, but it is believed fewer than 100 Frazer-Nash factory"upgraded" examples were sold.

The FN-BMW 2000TI on offer today was registered in mid 1968 and is in entirely original condition, save for the fitting of a rare period 5 speed conversion, (the original gearbox comes with the car) and "Mini-Lite" wheels, identical to those employed on 2002 racing machines. Internally, the car has a highly original interior, being very comfortable and with the 5 speed 'box it is a relaxed and practical classic family tourer.

There is a full and interesting history folder offered with this car and it will come to sale with a full MOT and tax disc. If you were looking to a distinctive, rare and usable alternative to a Mk II or S-Type Jaguar, with the cachet of a specialist British tuning-firm attached, you could hardly find better than this ultra rare example.
