DESCRIPTION
Introduced in May 1961, the Jaguar E-type was a sensation with great looks and performance unrivaled at the price. Often heralded as the most beautiful car of all time Jaguar, not surprisingly, made no significant model changes till the introduction of the 4.2 engine in October 1964.and the introduction of the Series II in 1968. Additionally they incorporated an all syncromesh gearbox, increased legroom and better torque from the new capacity engine. This resulted in the best E-type and now Grand Tourer to match the best being produced by Jaguars rivals. The E-type still continued to hammer the opposition on pricing and reliable performance. Offered here is a beautifully restored Jaguar E-type produced on 23 August 1968 and destined for Jaguar Cars New York, and its first owner Rosemary Rucchio. It returned to the UK in October 2014 and has been subject to an exacting restoration by our vendor, a highly regarded and experienced bodywork specialist. It was a very original and well preserved example and all the factory panels were retained. When the body was stripped to the tub it was decided to change the configuration to European specification and convert to right hand drive, a comparatively easy exercise at this stage. The fully rebuilt engine was mated to triple SU carburettors making it a UK spec car. It was painted in its original and one of the best colours for an E-type, Daimler Silver Grey. The interior and hood are the only deviation from the original black but combine to give a very special presence and a "nod' to a contemporary look. All the other components have either been replaced or rebuilt. The brightwork has all been re-chromed. It comes complete with tools and a hide hammer, UK registration, a full MOT and a Heritage Certificate. Restored Jaguar E-types at this guide represent great value for a car with such a sense of occasion.
