DESCRIPTION

First introduced to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963, the Porsche 911 has now been in production for over fifty years. From its original production car base the 911 has become one of the most successful competition cars of all time, both as a circuit racer and rally car. As early as 1965 the 'Works' entered a 911 SWB in the Monte Carlo Rally and within two years Vic Elford was winning rounds in the European Championship. This very rare left-hand drive 2.0 S is a desirable SWB A-series European model built in 1968, and was sold new to Bologna, Italy. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirms that chassis number 11801236 was completed in July 1968 and finished in its current colour combination of Light Ivory with black leatherette interior. The certificate also confirms that the engine is the original 2.0 litre S unit and the engine bay presents very well indeed. The shut lines are very good and the paintwork is excellent with a deep shine. The interior is also in lovely condition with no rips or tears and a crack-free dash. The car is in running order and will be supplied with a fresh MoT certificate. The engine pulls well and retains that superb 2.0 litre flat-6 symphony that is synonymous with these early cars. Supplied with Italian documents and a current UK V5 registration document, this 911S was a member of the Automobile Club D'Italia and there is still a metal plate on the rear parcel shelf that proudly displays the Italian history of this vehicle. 911S and SWB prices are certainly on the march and show no signs of slowing down. Buyers should be aware that whilst the speedo and rev counter are working, the odometer is currently not working. Please feel free to contact the office for a full and fair description of this vehicle and accompanying paperwork.
