1969 Jaguar E-Type FHC 2+2

It is difficult to imagine the impact that the Jaguar E-type had when it was launched back in 1961. When the average saloon had a top speed of 70 mph and most of them were desperately dull, the E-Type was an instant sensation, pre-empting computer aided design.

With its top speed of 150 mph and a price tag of £2,196 for the FHC, it was less than half the price of any of its contemporaries from either Italy or Germany. The E-type moved the goal posts and it set an entirely new agenda.

This is a 1969 E-Type FHC 4.2 litre Series 2 2+2 model with an automatic gearbox. It is finished in an unusual, but very period, Yellow colour with a black vinyl interior, both of which are in exemplary order. There are currently fewer than 25,000 miles on the car with this mileage is corroborated in the history which dates from the mid 1980's. However we cannot be certain that is original mileage is from new. The owners have recently spent money on the car to replace the alternator and water pump and adding high-intensity headlights for night driving. This car further benefits from a stainless steel exhaust and chrome wire wheels.

It is one of the full UK versions with the 2 seats in the back for the children. The car is in all round good condition or better, making it a fine usable example of these iconic Jaguars. Mechanically it is thoroughly sound with excellent oil pressure and is reported to run and drive without fault. It is to be sold with MoT to June 2014 and UK V5C Registration papers.
