DESCRIPTION

The Firebird was built by the Pontiac division of General Motors between 1967 and 2002. It was introduced the same year as its "platform-sharing' cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro. This also coincided with the release of Ford's 1967 Mercury Cougar, which also shared its platform with another pony car, the Ford Mustang.

The Pontiacs were, for the most part, powered by various six cylinder and V8 engines sourced from nearly every GM division until 1982 when all Pontiac engines were dropped in favour of corporate units.

This Firebird is a much sought-after "matching numbers' car that is powered by the more desirable V8 5360 cc engine with a two-barrel carburettor producing 250hp delivered through the accurate auto gearbox. It is the recipient of recent restorative works, not least the addition of an £8,000 bare metal re-spray in the really impressive deep blue which contrasts beautifully with the bright chrome-work!

1969 was the only year that this style of car was produced and as such these iconic vehicles have a strong following in the UK today. This example is a much coveted and beautifully maintained original motor car with power hood and a precise drive. It is offered with supporting documentation, and is priced attractively to sell.
