1970 Alfa Romeo 1300 GT Junior (Step nose)

Alfa Romeo was one of the first manufacturers to put a powerful engine in a lightweight car for mainstream production. The Junior was equipped with an alloy twin overhead camshaft four-cylinder engine, similar to that of the earlier Giulietta models range. When first released, the offered engine capacities were 1290cc, along with various configurations of carburettors and tuning produced power outputs from about 80 to about 110bhp. Almost all Juniors made had a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1300 Junior was noted for its lively performance among sedans of that era, especially considering the modest engine size and that their performance was better than many sports cars of the late 1960s and early 1970s.This very pretty, left-hand drive 1970 Alfa Romeo 1300 GT Junior was imported from sunny Italy in 2003 and has been kept within the same family since importation. The car has had a top end re-build, 'Alfaholics' handling kit, including dampers and features an aluminium inlet manifold, recent clutch, and exhaust. Finished in Alfa Red with black leather, there is a fully operational period Motorola radio fitted, which gives the interior a lovely ,authentic feel. A large history file documents receipts and bills for all recent work. Most the jobs have been carried out by Italian classic car specialists Classiccarco. When totalled up, the bills and receipts over the last eleven years come to over £20,000. The vendor reports that this 1300 Junior has recently returned from a 200 mile continuous journey and drives beautifully. Complete with MoT test certificate until March 2015, this Alfa offers incredible looks for a most reasonable outlay.
