DESCRIPTION

The world famous E-Type was introduced in 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show. It was initially designed and shown to the public as a rear-wheel drive grand tourer in a two-seater coupé form and later in a convertible body style. The 2+2 version with a lengthened wheelbase was released several years later. Through out the life span of the E-type it has been regarded as one of the most iconic automobile design icons of the 1960's.

At launch, even Enzo Ferrari was quoted as saying it was " the most beautiful car in the world".

This 'matching numbers' car is an immaculate, original right hand drive UK example of the rare 4.2 series II coupe 2+2, of which the factory built only 870.

The car has been subject to a recent 3 year complete restoration for which there are invoices totalling over £40,000 in parts alone. Many hundreds of hours of time from the previous retired owner and enormous effort have been dedicated to rebuild the car to the fantastic condition it is in today, looking as if it had just rolled out of the factory in 1970!

As testament to the stunning restoration undertaken, it was displayed at the November 2011 Classic Car Show at the N.E.C., as part of the Meguiars Concours stand, along with other 'best of breed' models from mainstream manufacturers and private collectors.

The detail and quality of the restoration reflects in the handling of this E-type as it drives extremely well with no deviations or upgrades from the original factory specification.

The added 9 inches in length that the 2+2 doors incorporate makes this car one of the most comfortable E-Types available to drive, particularly for the taller driver.

A rare and highly collectable E-Type that would enhance any serious Jaguar collection.
