DESCRIPTION
Introduced at the 1963 Frankfurt Motor Show the basic Porsche 911 design would run virtually unchanged for twenty nine years. Ferdinand Porsche had been working on the design since the late fifties as a better performing replacement for the 356. Today his design still underpins the production of Porsche AG of Stuttgart. Before long the merits of using the Porsche 911 in competitive motorsport became apparent and history records it as one of the most successful campaigners of all time. From the 24 Hours of Le Mans, to grass-root motorsport, the 911 offered reliable performance in many guises. For 1970 the C-Series 911 was introduced with a larger bore to give a capacity of 2165cc, producing 125bhp and now badged as a "T". Alterations to suspension points improved the handling and feel to the steering. The standard Fuchs wheels were now 6 inches wide. Offered in the sale today is a very usable left hand drive 911T which would be a good base for either cosmetic improvement or continuous use. Finished in the classic combination of silver and black trim, it presents as a very solid coupe. It is a non-sunroof model with very presentable trim and benefits from bucket seats. There has been considerable expenditure with 911 Classic of Hailsham. The history file shows previous work which included a back to metal repaint, which accounts for the sound basis of the car today. There is an authenticity letter from Porsche confirming the fitment of the original engine, making this car a "matching numbers" version. Early 1970's Porsches are benchmark cars with regard to classic car values and they continue to rise steadily endorsing their investment appeal. More importantly they are great fun to own, drive and enjoy...
