DESCRIPTION
In 1964 the Porsche 911 first entered production. The timeless design was a result of the work of, Ferdinand 'Butzi' Porsche and the company's joint founder and chief body engineer Erwin Komenda. The 911 soon became a car renowned for driveability featuring rack and pinion steering, torsion bar suspension and disc brakes front and rear. The 911 was powered by a dry-sump, air-cooled, 2-litre, flat-six engine mounted at the rear and was fitted to a five-speed manual transmission. Over the years to come the 911 mechanics of the 911 slowly began to change and in 1969 the engine capacity was increased to 2.2-litres. This was offered in three levels of tune, namely: T (125 bhp), E (155 bhp) and S (180 bhp).
This 'matching numbers' Porsche 911 is a 1970 2.2l T model, fitted with the optional 5-Speed dog leg sports transmission. The car was imported from Arizona, USA in 2010 by its American owner before it was sold to the vendor in 2011. Shortly after purchasing the car the vendor underwent extensive work on the car and due to its recent completion the car is presented in fantastic condition.
The work undertaken on this 911 includes a complete bare metal paint removal, which uncovered the completely corrosion free and un-tampered body shell. The car was then repainted in the cars original Viper Green, arguably the most desirable of all early 911 colours. Following its respray the interior was subject to a full restoration having the headlining replaced and the seats re-trimmed in Black vinyl. The original 15-inch Fuchs alloys where restored providing a finishing touch to the car. The vehicle is mechanically sound and although currently listed as SORN the car is MoT'd until the end of this year.
This is a great value 911 that has had a large amount of restoration work carried out on it leaving it to be a very useable car for many years to come.
