DESCRIPTION

Introduced at the London Motor Show in 1962, the Spitfire was designed by Giovanni Michelotti and based on the Triumph Herald saloon. In production until as late as 1980, there were Mk I to Mk IV versions with a final model known as the 1500. This Mk III version was first introduced in March '67 with a 1296cc engine running on twin SU carburettors giving 75bhp. The car was globally popular with more than 75% of production being exported with nearly 1 in 2 destined for the USA.

This car, a UK supplied right hand drive model (bearing it's original Suffolk registration number), comes with a comprehensive history file which includes pictures, bills and receipts for the amazing 2 year restoration which has just been carried out both comprehensively and to an exceptional standard. Rebuilt by it's enthusiastic owner, a member of the R.E.M.E. section of the armed Forces, it is by far the nicest example of the marque we have ever seen and it has covered very few miles since being completed. The bills for parts in the file amount to close to £18,000 spent and it only takes one glance to see the standard of the work. It is as consistent underneath as it is on the bodywork and indeed inside the car. Complete with factory fitted overdrive gearbox, a factory hard top, Minilite look wheels and a wooden period steering wheel, the car is on the button and ready to be enjoyed.

Great value - bring on the Spring!
